Background[]

Last Night on Earth, released 2009, was written and produced by Billie Joe Armstrong, who also features on Lead Guitar and Lead Vocals. Bass and backing vocals are provided by Mike Dirnt, while piano is performed by Jason Freese. The song it unlike most other songs on the album in that it is a slow tempo, relaxed ballad-style track. In the scope of the album, Last Night on Earth marks the end of the first act, named "Heroes and Cons". Last Night on Earth has also appeared as part of the Awesome as F**k Tour and the American Idiot Broadway show.
