American Phil is a character in the Rock Band series who first appears in Rock Band and is one of the playable Session Musicians in Rock Band 2.
Physical Appearance
American Phil is portrayed as being a glam metalhead and his outfit resembles the classic biker outfit. In the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Rock Band, he has reddish brown skin, brown hair, and wears a blue jean jacket over a white shirt, blue jeans with a white belt, and white studded boots. He also wears a white headband and white fingerless gloves. In the Wii and PlayStation 2 versions of Rock Band and the track packs, he has fair skin, and his hair is a slightly different shade of brown. His outfit is the same except that his jacket and jeans are dark blue, his shirt is black, and his headband is red. In Rock Band 2, his look is kept the same as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the first Rock Band.

American Phil is a guitarist/bassist character in the first Rock Band and can play any song, but only plays a few songs on bass in the Wii and PlayStation 2 versions. He can sing vocals and play guitar, bass, or drums in Rock Band 2. When he's not being used by the player, he can be seen playing any song from the Pop-Rock, Glam, and Metal genres.

- American Phil is one of the six characters to appear in every version of Rock Band and to be a playable Session Musician in Rock Band 2. The other five include Maynard Winter, Moosejaw Boudreau, Ol' Smokey, Sharky, and Sir Thomas.
- In addition, he and Ol' Smokey are the only Rock Band 2 Session Musicians whose looks differ in the Wii and PlayStation 2 versions of the first Rock Band from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of said game.
- He is the only Rock Band 2 Session Musician who doesn't appear in Lego Rock Band.
- He and Maynard Winter are the only male Rock Band 2 Session Musicians not to have facial hair.
